Tlhopie Motsepe (born 12 June 1989) is a South African businessperson. He is the firstborn child of Patrice Motsepe, a billionaire businessperson.

Being a member of one of the wealthiest families in South Africa has earned him a spot in the limelight. His father is the owner of African Rainbow Minerals, one of the largest gold mining companies.

Apart from owning the company, Patrice has a spot among the wealthiest people in South Africa. In 2004, the business juggernaut acquired the football team Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Tlhopie sits in the presidential position of the club after his father passed him the baton.

On 12 June 1989, Tlhopie Motsepe was born into the family of the South African political heavyweight – Patrice Motsepe. Tlhopie has two younger siblings including Kgosi and Kabelo.

Tlhopie’s father bought him a car of luxury, a Supercharged B7 Audi RS4, at the time he was in his twenties. His extended family consists of several influential people the country has produced.

His father’s relatives include his sisters Tshepo Motsepe and Bridgette Radebe. The president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa and Jeff Radebe are Tlhopie’s uncles in-law.

His father, Patrice, is founded the African Rainbow Minerals. The diversified mining and minerals company was established in 2003. Its headquarters stands in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The company has created job opportunities for over twenty-four thousand employees. ARM’s interest covers a wide range of mines – gold, iron, coal, and copper. 

Education

He had his studies at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits University). From the institution, his father’s alma mater, he holds a Law degree.

He also had studied for a master’s degree in Business Administration abroad though it is not clear if he finished the program.

Career

He is a co-owner of a solar energy production company, ePower Holdings. Other co-owners of the company are Tariq Yusuf, Rudi van der Westhuizen, and Brent Peterson.

The vision of the company is to equip underdeveloped communities in the world with many solar energy apps.

He sits as on the presidential sit on Mamelodi Sundowns with Dr. Rejoice Simelane as the vice president.
